The U.S. Department of Labor Employment Standards Administration's Office of Workers' Compensation Programs (OWCP) administers four major disability compensation programs.

  • The Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program delivers benefits to eligible employees and former employees of the U.S. Department of Energy, its contractors and subcontractors or to certain survivors of such individuals.
  • The Federal Employees' Compensation Program provides wage replacement benefits, medical treatment, and other benefits to federal workers or their dependents who are injured at work or acquire an occupational disease.
  • The Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Program provides compensation benefits to workers for disability due to an injury or an employment-related occupational disease occurring on the navigable waters of the United States or in adjoining shoreside areas.
  • The Black Lung Benefits Program provides monthly payments and medical treatment benefits to coal miners totally disabled from pneumoconiosis (black lung) as well as monthly payments to eligible surviving dependents.
