CAMBRIDGE: The ECMAA was founded as a way to bind the Ethiopian community together to help newcomers adjust to American life. African immigrants come from a traumatic background and changing to a new lifestyle is difficult. To do this, the ECMAA helps African immigrants in the Boston area by: giving cultural orientation to newcomers, HIV/AIDS prevention, job placement, housing assistance and translation/interpretation services. It even provides a weekly radio show attracting 8,000 listeners.
