December 16, 2002 Chief of Mission of the U.S. Office Pristina, Reno Harnish, donated police equipment to a police station in Kacanik that just recently came under operational control of the new Kosovo Police Service (KPS). Mr. Harnish said in a press conference that Kacanik was the first of seven police stations in the U.S. sector to receive the equipment and furniture provided by the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL). He said that the KPS is a model for other institutions in Kosovo to follow, and the current level of cooperation between KFOR, CIVPOL, and the KPS should increase the pace for future police station transitions.
