The Ambassador and Mrs. Stapleton Honor Individuals Who've Helped with Hurricane KatrinaU.S. Embassy Paris Paris, France October 21, 2005 The Ambassador and Mrs. Stapleton hosted a coffee at the Ambassador's Residence on October 21 to honor some of the many individuals and organizations that assisted the American people following the catastrophic devastation of Hurricane Katrina. This coffee gave aid providers a chance to recount first-hand their experiences in the U.S.; donors a chance to recount their reasons for providing material aid; and U.S. authorities a chance to thank the French government and people for their generosity. In his remarks, the Ambassador reminded participants of the strong ties that bind France and the U.S., and invited participants to record their remembrances of the events. Admiral Oudot de Dainville, Chef d'Etat Major de la Marine, also presented his remarks, complimenting the French Navy divers for completing their mission well in the United States.
