Small Business Safety and Health Forum
Scheduled March 16 At Sauk Valley Community College

AURORA, Ill. -- A special forum on safety and health in general industry for small businesses will be held at Sauk Valley Community College, Dixon, Ill., Wednesday, March 16.

"This cooperative effort with the state of Illinois and the local academic community will help small businesses prevent job injuries and protect their workers," said John Newquist, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) acting area director in North Aurora.

The forum is co-sponsored by OSHA's North Aurora area office; Sauk Valley Community College; and Illinois Onsite Consultation, Industrial Service Division, Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity.

Safety and health professionals from the government and private sector will provide examples and information on how some companies have created and implemented successful safety programs. Detailed information will be provided on machine guarding, electrical safety, fall protection, accident investigation, fire safety and teen worker safety.

The program will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Sauk Valley Community College, 173 IL Route 2, Dixon, Ill. The fee for the forum is $30, which includes lunch and refreshments. Advance registration is required.
