Industrial Warehouse Safety Training Scheduled March 18
At Northern Illinois University In DeKalb

CHICAGO -- The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will provide expert training on industrial warehouse safety at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Ill., Friday, March 18.

"This course will help line supervisors, safety directors, and warehouse owners protect their workers from the dangers of material handling hazards," said John Newquist, OSHA's acting area director in North Aurora.

The safety course is co-sponsored by OSHA and the National Safety Education Center at Northern Illinois University (NIU).

OSHA representatives will provide warehouse safety training to help employers reduce costs from injuries and fatalities that can occur from the warehousing and distribution of material. The course will include information on the most frequently cited warehouse violations in Illinois and nationally. Detailed information will be provided on forklift safety, dock safety, fire protection, fall protection, and material handling.

The forum will be held at the NIU Engineering Building, Kishwaukee Drive, Room 101, DeKalb, Ill., from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The fee is $59, which includes handouts, lunch and refreshments. Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion with .6 Continuing Education Units from NIU. To register, contact the National Safety Education Center at NIU at 815-753-0277 or 800-656-5317.
