U.S. Deputy Under Secretary for International Affairs, Charlotte M. Ponticelli, recently visited China and Vietnam to discuss labor issues.
Deputy Under Secretary for International Affairs Charlotte M. Ponticelli (pictured left) and Vietnamese Standing Vice Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Ba Huynh Thi Nhan (right) conducted the Fifth U.S.-Vietnam Labor Dialogue on October 22 in Hanoi. The dialogue addressed issues related to labor rights and enforcement, human resource development, forced labor and child labor, trafficking in persons, industrial relations, and workplace safety and health.
Before arriving in Vietnam for the Fifth U.S.-Vietnam Labor Dialogue, U.S. Deputy Under Secretary for International Affairs Charlotte M. Ponticelli stopped in Beijing and met with Chinese officials to discuss bilateral cooperation. During a meeting on October 17, Ms. Ponticelli and Chinese Vice Minister of Labor and Social Security Hu Xiaoyi exchanged ideas regarding the implementation of bilateral Letters of Understanding on labor cooperation.
