Shipbuilder’s Council of America/West Coast Chapter ALLIANCE ANNUAL REPORT January 23, 2006
I. Alliance Background Date Signed October 22, 2002 and renewed February 12, 2004 Overview This alliance provides members with information and guidance that will help them to protect employees and reduce exposure to shipyard hazards. Lyndsay Docherty, Cascade General Contributors N/A Evaluation Period FY 2005 II. Implementation Team Meetings January 24, 2005 – Meeting held in Tumwater, Washington. Reviewed the shipyard fatality video, discussed impact of the OSHA proposed chromium standard and new firewatch standard. III. Events and Products Training and Education Events October 18, 2004 – Participated in Maritime Conference on panel for regulatory agencies for the shipyard and longshoring industries. December 8, 2004 – Formal presentation to shipyard employers/employees and with marine chemist on the new firewatch standard. January 25, 2005 – Participated in presentation that included the Seattle Fire Department, marine chemists, and shipyard employers and employees on the firewatch standard.   Products No products were developed and were not part of this alliance. Outreach and Communication Events Mailed copy of shipyard fatality video to all shipyards and companies involved in the repair of vessels (95) in the state of Washington.   Products No products were developed and were not part of this alliance.
