This alliance provides members with information and guidance that will help them to protect employees and reduce exposure to shipyard hazards.

II. Implementation Team Meetings

January 24, 2005 – Meeting held in Tumwater, Washington. Reviewed the shipyard fatality video, discussed impact of the OSHA proposed chromium standard and new firewatch standard.

Training and Education
  • Events

    October 18, 2004 – Participated in Maritime Conference on panel for regulatory agencies for the shipyard and longshoring industries.

    December 8, 2004 – Formal presentation to shipyard employers/employees and with marine chemist on the new firewatch standard.

    January 25, 2005 – Participated in presentation that included the Seattle Fire Department, marine chemists, and shipyard employers and employees on the firewatch standard.

    Mailed copy of shipyard fatality video to all shipyards and companies involved in the repair of vessels (95) in the state of Washington.
