Overview

To promote discussions on workplace safety and health, the Associated General Contractors of Western Washington (AGC) and OSHA’s Seattle office will share information, convene forums on injury and illness trends and develop models OSHA can incorporate as industry recommendations.

II. Implementation Team Meetings

Held planning meeting at the AGC office to discuss projects on: February 10, 2005; April 7, 2005; August 4, 2005; and October 6, 2005.

III. Events and Products

Training and Education
  • Events

    We jointly conducted an OSHA 10 course for high school students in Puyallup, WA.

    OSHA is scheduled to participate in the OSHA 30-hour courses that AGC is providing. Participation consists of an explanation of what OSHA does, how inspections are conducted, and questions and answers.

Outreach and Communication
  • Events

    OSHA serves on the AGC’s Safety Steering Committee as a non-voting member.

    OSHA provided a judge for selecting AGC’s safety award winners and attended the awards ceremony.

Promoting the National Dialogue on Workplace Safety and Health
  • Events

    OSHA and the AGC worked with the Seattle Fire Department and the skilled trades developing a plan to integrate skilled construction personnel into the initial response to natural disasters and terrorist incidents.

    OSHA plans to attend and participate in AGC provided ergonomics training sessions to share information and train OSHA and industry personnel on construction ergonomics hazard solutions. The AGC and OSHA plan to develop ergonomics solution sheets and videos for selected construction activities that can be used locally and nationwide.

    The alliance is in its second year of the two-year renewal. Both OSHA and the AGC of Washington stress the mutual benefits of this alliance and plan to renew the agreement.
