Ceremony Held June 28 in Claremore, Okla. CLAREMORE, Okla. -- Baker Hughes-Centrilift, Ardmore, Okla., has earned membership in the prestigious "Star" Voluntary Protection Program of the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). A recognition ceremony was held today at the Baker Hughes-Centrilift pump plant facility at 200 W. Stuart Roosa Drive, Claremore. "Baker Hughes has demonstrated excellence in effective safety and health management," said OSHA Regional Administrator John Miles in Dallas. "Their outstanding efforts include maintaining an injury and illness rate 79 percent below the national average for their industry." The Baker Hughes pump plant facility manufacturers down-hole electrical submersible pump systems for oil field, oil recovery and production operations. Additionally, the plant manufactures the surface equipment used to control the electrical submersible pumping rates. The company employs about 668 salaried and hourly employees. The Voluntary Protection Programs recognize and promote effective workplace safety and health management. About 1,300 work sites throughout the U.S have earned OSHA's highest recognition as participants in the VPP. More than 280 industries are represented within the programs. VPP participants typically achieve injury and illness rates more than 50 percent below their respective industry's average rates. Employers are responsible for providing a safe and healthful workplace for their employees.
