Aquatic
Habitat Conservation and Management in Region 3
The
Fishery Program's
goals are to work with partners to conserve and restore habitats for
fish and other aquatic resource populations by 1) identifying habitat
restoration needs and acting on those needs, 2) identifying issues and
threats related to hydropower
re-licensing and the development of wetlands, and 3) identifying opportunities
to improve the quality and quantity of aquatic habitats on Service lands
(National Wildlife Refuges).
In Region 3
there are a number of aquatic habitat management programs that we use
to conserve and manage habitat; these include the Fish Passage Program,
Coastal Program, Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program, and the Great
Lakes Fish and Wildlife Restoration Act. These partnerships are critical
to conserving habitat.
