Grain Mill in Niger's Kanazi Island

Located on the Niger river, 20 km from Niamey, the Island of Kanazi is home to a small village of 570 people, whose women had difficulty milling their locally grown rice and millet. A grinding mill purchased with SSH funds will facilitate other activities and generate revenue for the community.  (Photos taken in May 2002 by SSH Coordinator Aboubacar Kossomi, Embassy Niamey)
