2007 DOL Summer Interns

2007 U.S. Department of Labor Summer Interns

My experience at the U.S. Department of Labor has been nothing but fantastic. My coworkers this summer believe strongly in assisting individuals with disabilities enter into America's workforce and persuaded me to the cause in the process. The DOL strongly believes in a work force that represents all parts of America and practices what it preaches with a diverse work environment. I would recommend anyone to intern here at DOL who’s interested in understanding how government works.

This internship is a once in a lifetime experience.  Here at the Department of Labor, I do not just watch the workings of our government, but I am a part of it.  I feel that everything I have learned from this program will help me in my future, both academically and professionally.

The Department of Labor provides one of the best internship programs in Washington, DC.  My internship with the U.S. Department of Labor provided great opportunities to meet talented individuals from all over the country and create long-lasting friendships with fellow interns.  I highly recommend this program if you are seeking a hands-on, enjoyable, and enlightening internship experience that will equip you with the skills necessary to be a success in the real world.

My internship at the Department of Labor was an extraordinary opportunity. I left feeling inspired by the exciting projects I was assigned and by the important speeches I was able to attend.  I met many influential people and even got an inside look into the inner workings of the federal government.

My internship working with the Department was a truly special and insightful experience.  Not only did I learn a lot about the Executive branch of our Government, I also was exposed to the rhetoric, strategies and raw politics of the Legislative branch. Being given the opportunity to work in our Nation’s Capital has helped me grow both academically and politically.  I am truly thankful for this opportunity.

During my internship with the U.S. Department of Labor, I was encouraged to explore my own academic and career interests, allowing me to participate in engaging work and contribute to my fullest potential. Being a part of a team whose sole purpose was the safety and security of the American worker was a refreshing and eye-opening experience.

The Elaine L. Chao internship experience has been invaluable in diversifying my education.  Being submersed in the real life drama of Washington D.C. and governmental affairs has renewed my desire to make a positive contribution to our nation.

Working at BLS, through the DOL internship program has been a great experience.  I've gotten the chance to apply the knowledge I've learned in the classroom to real-life questions and data; and what I have learned as an intern will be very useful when I go back to the classroom.

Working at The Department of Labor was an invaluable learning experience which allowed me to see how crucial a role the DOL plays in the American Workforce. My daily interaction with the leaders of the DOL afforded me the opportunity to learn about the US Government, which was exactly what I was looking for in an internship.

The U.S. Department of Labor has provided me with so many outlets and opportunities for my future endeavors.  My short four months here have been some of the most enriching, educational and beneficial months I could have asked for.  With the kindness and guidance of my fellow peers, co-workers, and advisors, I feel that I have over the summer, gained a more in-depth understanding and appreciation for our government, and more importantly, the people behind the scenes at the DOL. At the end of this internship, I felt that I walked away with a priceless and valuable experience.

Interning at the U.S. Department of Labor was beneficial to my education and future career. Throughout the summer, I often found myself engaging administrators, completing substantial work, and learning life-long leadership skills.  Serving the American people as an employee of the federal government taught me about myself and about democracy.
