Pactiv Canandaigua Technical Center Receives Renewed OSHA Recognition
Ceremony To Be Held January 21 in Canandaigua, N.Y.

NEW YORK -- The Pactiv Canandaigua Technical Center has achieved renewed membership in the prestigious "Star" Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) of the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). A recognition ceremony is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 21 in Canandaigua, NY.

"During their eight years in the Voluntary Protection Program, the Pactiv Canandaigua Technical Center has exhibited excellence in effective safety and health management at their Canandaigua facility," said New York OSHA Regional Administrator Patricia K. Clark. "The company's wellness program for employees and its program for the safe handling and storage of compressed gasses are especially notable."

The facility employs 150 workers to design, test and manufacture sealed zip bags and polystyrene food containers. Companies that have been accepted into the Voluntary Protection Programs represent more than 200 industries.

The VPP recognizes and promotes effective workplace safety and health management. Companies in the Voluntary Protection Programs achieve average injury rates 50 percent lower than other companies in their industry. From coast to coast, approximately 1,100 work sites participate.

Information kits about the VPP application and approval process are available from the VPP manager at the OSHA regional office in New York City at 212-337-2360.
