McGILL NAMED OSHA'S NASHVILLE AREA DIRECTOR
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Ron McGill has been appointed area director for federal OSHA's Nashville area office, the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced today. Prior to his selection he served in OSHA's Atlanta regional office as the coordinator for OSHA state plan monitoring and most recently partnership programs in the Southeast.
McGill began his career with OSHA in 1973 as a compliance safety and health officer. In 1976, he was selected as the safety specialist responsible for assisting in the development, implementation and monitoring of state occupational safety and health plans.
"Ron's experience and background in both federal and state safety and health issues makes him a natural for this position," said Cindy Coe, OSHA's regional administrator in Atlanta. "He has worked closely with many of Tennessee's labor leaders and I know he will build on these strong ties to continue our mutual goal: improving safety and health conditions in the workplace."
Ron, a native of Indiana, attended the University of Georgia. He began his safety career as a Forest Park, Ga., firefighter and served in various safety management positions within state government before joining OSHA.
As the Nashville area director, McGill will be responsible for administering the federal Occupational Safety and Health Act at maritime and federal facilities within the state.
The Nashville federal OSHA office is located at the Green Hills Office Park, Suite C-205, 2002 Richard Jones Rd.; phone: (615) 781-5423.
