FEDERAL AND STATE LABOR DEPARTMENTS TO HOLD
SMALL BUSINESS WORKSHOP IN BRONX, NY

NEW YORK - The U. S. Labor Department and the New York State Labor Department are combining forces to conduct a workshop for small business owners on Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Lehman College in the Bronx. The free session, sponsored by the New York State Small Business Development Center, is designed to answer questions that small business owners and managers often face regarding labor issues.

The program, which begins at 10:00 a.m., includes an introduction to the services offered by the Small Business Development Center; minimum wage, overtime pay, vacations and breaks, and other issues related to federal and state labor standards. This will be followed by information on OSHA-the workplace safety and health inspection process, citations, and penalties, followed by information on the New York State Labor Department's voluntary safety and health consultation program.

The workshop, which concludes with a question-and-answer segment at 1:00 p.m., will be held in the Small Business Development Center in the Old Gym Building, Room 108B on the Lehman College campus, 250 Bedford Park Boulevard Park West in the Bronx,
