Help - Understanding Fields and Categories

Name of Veteran/Civilian: Includes first, middle, last, maiden and nick names, as available.

Service Location: Service location(s), stated however the veteran indicated them - could be general (i.e.: European Theater) or specific (i.e.:Quonset Point, Rhode Island). Abbreviations, for the most part, have been expanded (i.e.: "CONUS" changed to "Continental United States").

Service Unit/Ship: Service Unit or Ship in/on which the veteran served, also includes references to Battalions, Regiments, and Divisions.

Highest Rank: Highest rank achieved in military service - if achieved while part of the National Guard, that may be indicated.

Notes: Includes any available notes on the interviewee and his/her service history.

Name of Interviewer/Donor: Includes first, middle, and last names, as available.

Partner/Interviewer Affiliation: Name of the partner organization or affiliation.

Collection IS Number: An ID number consisting of letters and numbers separated by forward slashes (e.g., AFC/2001/001/234). The simplest search uses the number occuring after the final slash.
