U.S. Labor Department and Adecco Form Nationwide Business Partnership

Adecco USA to Recruit, Train, and Place Unemployed Job Seekers in Temporary, Part-time and Full-time Positions

WASHINGTON—The U.S. Department of Labor today announced a nationwide partnership with Adecco, the world’s largest staffing and human resource solutions company. Emily Stover DeRocco, assistant secretary of labor for employment and training, and Julio Arrieta, CEO of Adecco USA, said that Adecco is providing consultation and assistance on a variety of workforce initiatives, including recruitment, training, and placement of displaced workers at companies in need of employees whose skills are in short supply.

“The workforce investment system is partnering with employers across the country to assist workers in obtaining skills for the jobs businesses need to fill,” said DeRocco. “With 1,300 offices that place workers with about 20,000 employers a day, Adecco offers a broader reach than ever before. Temporary employment through Adecco is a viable alternative for some job seekers who value the flexibility it provides. For others, temporary work is a good way to learn new skills and connect with employers who may soon be recruiting full-time employees.”

Adecco has a longstanding relationship with the Department of Labor through its partnerships with Workforce Investment Boards (WIBs) across the country. The company uses its highly effective assessment tools to predict success in employment for job seekers referred by One-Stop Career Centers. These tools screen candidates and match them to the labor needs of local companies.

In Panama City, Fla., Adecco is co-located with the local One-Stop Career Center in a busy mall where drop-in job seekers are frequently referred to Adecco. By sharing expenses and finding work for One-Stop clients, Adecco helps the center accomplish its goals. In the first year of the co-location, the local One-Stop moved to the number two spot in the state for number of clients placed in jobs.

Arrieta says, “Adecco has relationships with employment systems around the world, and we are very pleased to now be partnering with agencies in the United States. We are prepared to help in many ways, such as providing the full range of management services to One-Stops that request assistance and offering Adecco offices as satellite or support offices to One-Stops. We can also help by training and placing the more challenging populations looking for opportunities in the workplace. We are committed to helping workers who experience obstacles in entering the workforce succeed in the American economy.” Arrieta adds, “Our partnership with the Labor Department is also important because it fuels economic vitality by filling the business needs of growing companies.”
