The Secretary's Open Forum Series on Perspectives on Globalization: Women, Families and Social Change

As part of the Department’s commemoration of Women’s History Month, the Secretary’s Open Forum is launching a series entitled, "Perspectives on Globalization: Women, Families and Social Change." The opening event will focus on "Girls’ Literacy and Sustainable Development," and will take place on Monday, March 25 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. in the Loy Henderson Conference Room. After brief taped introductory remarks by Secretary of State Colin Powell, Under Secretary of State for Global Affairs Paula J. Dobriansky will moderate a panel discussion with Mr. A Lawrence Chickering, President of Educate Girls Globally and, via satellite, U.S. Ambassador to Ghana Nancy Powell and U.S. Ambassador to Qatar Maureen Quinn.

Audience members will include USG professionals, professors and students from universities, and representatives from NGO, foreign policy and education and development communities. Following brief opening statements by the panel, the audience will be asked to take part in an interactive discussion.
