U.S. Ambassador Khalilzad To Participate in Iraqi Artifact Repatriation Event

U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Zalmay Khalilzad with Iraqi Prime Minister Noori al-Maliki will participate in a ceremony marking the repatriation of the diorite statue of Entemena to the Iraqi Government at 6:00 p.m. on July 25, 2006, at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq, 1801 P Street NW, Washington, DC. Secretary for Homeland Security Michael Chertoff will give remarks.

Recovered this year by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement wing of the Department of Homeland Security, the statue of Entemena is deemed one of INTERPOL’s most significant recoveries.
