Appointment of Ambassador Josette Sheeran as Executive Director of World Food ProgramThe United States welcomes the selection of Ambassador Josette Sheeran as the new Executive Director of the World Food Program. Ambassador Sheeran has the leadership abilities and work experience most suited to lead this critical humanitarian organization. She has a proven track record in development policy and humanitarian assistance, and more than twenty years of successful management experience in government, foundations, and the private sector.
The United States is a strong supporter of the World Food Program, providing nearly half of all annual contributions to the organization as it feeds nearly 100 million hungry people every year. The United States looks forward to continuing to work with President Mirza Beg and the rest of the World Food Program’s Executive Board in meeting the needs of some of the world’s most vulnerable citizens.
The United States thanks outgoing World Food Program Executive Director James Morris for his exceptional work during his tenure.
