Training Opportunities The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) St. Louis Division is committed to providing the very best narcotics investigative training, not only to DEA personnel, but also to the state and local law enforcement officers throughout Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota and southern Illinois. Every year the DEA St. Louis Division presents a wide variety of training courses, the most prominent being the DEA Basic Narcotic Investigator’s Course. This two-week program is designed for police officers new to drug law enforcement. The attendees are provided with the most current and relevant information on a variety of topics, including: Drug Identification; Surveillance Techniques; Interview and Interrogation; Raid Planning and Execution; Asset Forfeiture; Undercover Techniques; Informant Management and Conspiracy Law. As a progression, the DEA Advanced Narcotic Investigator’s Course is being designed to present a more intense focus on the mid to upper level drug trafficker. The advanced course will be for narcotics officers with at least two years of experience and who are interested in learning investigative techniques associated with the dismantling of larger drug trafficking organizations. The DEA Basic Narcotics Course is co-sponsored by the Midwest Counterdrug Training Center (MCTC) in Des Moines, IA.
