Conference Commemorating the 10th Anniversary of the Dayton AccordsNovember 21, 2005, marks the 10th Anniversary of agreement on the Dayton Accords, which ended the horrific war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Members of the international community will gather in Washington, D.C. November 21 and 22 to celebrate the progress and achievement of the past decade since Dayton, looking to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s future and bringing it closer to its goal of becoming a peaceful, prosperous, democratic nation that is fully integrated into Europe.
On November 21 at 9:30 a.m., Under Secretary for Political Affairs Nicholas Burns will deliver remarks at the United States Institute of Peace Conference titled, "Beyond Dayton: The Balkans and Euro-Atlantic Integration." The conference is being held from 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Fairmont Hotel (2401 M St, NW) and features other prominent speakers, including: Mr. Ivo Miro Jovic, Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina; Ambassador Richard Holbrooke, Vice Chairman of Perseus; Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany; NATO Deputy Secretary General Alessandro Minuto Rizzo; and Lord Paddy Ashdown, High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
