Venezuelan Influence in Bolivia

Question:   Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs Assistant Secretary Roger F. Noriega said that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez’s presence is well known in Bolivia. What did he mean by that, and what evidence supports it?

Answer:   Assistant Secretary Noriega was referring to the well-established public record on the relationship between the Venezuelan President and Bolivian Movement for Socialism Party leader Evo Morales. Regional and international media have reported extensively on the various contacts between the two. These media reports, as well as statements by both parties, are available for anyone to review.
