Interior's Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy and International Affairs Chris Kearney (5th from right) attends the MOU signing ceremony to join a new federal government commitment to electronics stewardship.

The Department of Interior signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to improve the quality, performance, and environmental management of Federal electronic assets throughout their life cycle. Lynn Scarlett, Assistant Secretary for Policy, Management and Budget, signed the MOU with eleven Federal Agencies including the Executive Office of the President. By signing this MOU Interior became a member of the Federal Electronics Challenge (FEC).

By joining the FEC, DOI gains tools that will help manage the life-cycle costs of computers and other electronics. Facilities are also encouraged to join the FEC at the facility level.
