Pentagon Biodiesel Pump
The location of this pump offering an American-made fuel is an appropriate site to showcase biodiesel’s contributions to reducing America’s dependence on foreign oil. The Navy Exchange is across the street from Arlington National Cemetery and within view of the West wall of the Pentagon that a terrorist-controlled airplane struck on Sept. 11, 2001. A grand opening ceremony is being planned for the pump in the near future. Meanwhile, feel free to go ahead and fill up your tank with biodiesel now. Groups that helped funding for the opening of this publicly available pump include the United Soybean Board and state soybean boards from Virginia, Maryland, Iowa and Nebraska along with the U.S. Army and Navy, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Department of Energy and the Department of the Interior and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
