Creating an Inclusive Competitive Processes

Printer-Friendly Version

The following actions help create a process which is inclusive of faith-based and community organizations (FBCOs) that have not received government grants in the past:

  1. Post grant and contract opportunities on your state’s Website so that they are clearly worded and easily accessible to the public.
  1. Create e-mail and mailing lists to advertise grant opportunities and invite FBCO leaders to join the list.
  1. Provide technical assistance workshops as part of contract and grant opportunities so that potential applicants that have not administered government funding are better able to compete.
  1. Add clear language to contract or grant opportunities to ensure that “faith-based” organizations are judged neutrally, in compliance with existing laws.
  1. Remove incentives from contract or grant opportunities that unfairly favor past grantees or contractors.
  1. Reach out to new providers, such as faith-based colleges and universities or community-based training providers, to let them know that they may apply to become eligible training providers.
  1. Simplify grant and contract applications and processes by removing any complex elements that are not necessary to effective performance.

Please identify which new actions from the list above or other new actions you will be taking to ensure inclusiveness in the competitive process and equal treatment for FBCOs.
