The Deputy Assistant Secretary for Budget and Business Management provides overall policy, policy direction, leadership, guidance, and assistance on a broad range of management and operational issues that directly affect the Department of the Interior's ability to fulfill its mission. These include budgeting, financial management, and procurement. Additionally, the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Budget and Business Management provides oversight for the Department's Working Capital Fund. The Fund is a revolving fund whereby capital is expended to provide services for customers who are then billed for those services. In this capacity, the Fund finances the the operation of the National Business Center, as well as several other activities that are managed by various offices within the Office of the Secretary.
