OSHA 3149
Foreword

Foreword

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has published this document to assist employers and workers in providing safe and healthful workplaces for construction employees. This publication gives employers and workers information, in a single source, on all of OSHA requirements for the construction industry. This and other OSHA material are available on OSHA's Web site, on compact disk through GPO, as well as from OSHA field offices, and state consultation offices.

This publication contains all relevant mandatory standards for construction work that have been codified in Title 29 Code of Federal Regulations, including Parts 1903, 1904, 1910, and 1926. OSHA believes that the implementation of these standards in the construction industry by employers will help reduce the numbers of deaths, injuries, and illnesses in the construction industry.

OSHA encourages users of this material to make any suggestions they believe would further improve its usefulness for construction employers and employees. Please send any comments or suggestions to Bruce Swanson, Director, Directorate of Construction, OSHA, 200 Constitution Avenue, N.W., Washington, DC 20210.

OSHA also wishes to acknowledge the assistance it received in compiling this document, including help from members of OSHA's Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health, stakeholders, and OSHA field and national office staff.
