Xenia, Ohio – The U.S. Department of Labor’s
Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) today announced that a
Greene County grand jury in Xenia has indicted Julie Anders on two
counts of theft of employee benefit assets from the retirement plan of
the local company Quality Caulking Inc.
“Theft of pension assets jeopardizes workers’
retirement future,” said Bradford P. Campbell, EBSA’s assistant
secretary. “This case reaffirms the Labor Department’s commitment to
protect workers’ benefits by identifying criminal activity wherever
and whenever it occurs.”
Anders, the majority owner of Quality Caulking Inc.,
was charged with theft of retirement contributions withheld from
employees’ paychecks from September 2005 through August 2006. The
contributions were never forwarded to the employee pension benefit plan.
Instead, the funds were retained by Anders for other uses.
The indictment, based on an investigation by EBSA’s
Cincinnati Regional Office, was presented to the grand jury by Greene
County First Assistant Prosecutor Susan Schmidt. The indictment of a
person by a grand jury is an accusation only and that person is presumed
innocent until and unless proven guilty.
