ATTORNEY GENERAL RENO TO CELEBRATE EARTH DAY 2000 BY

DEDICATING NEW EDUCATION CENTER & RECREATION PARK
ON THE ANACOSTIA RIVER


WASHINGTON, D.C. - Attorney General Janet Reno will dedicate a new Community Environmental Resource Center and education/recreation park on the west bank of the Anacostia River on Saturday, April 22, 2000 at 12:00 p.m. Saturday is the 30th Anniversary of Earth Day, a national day of observance for environmental concerns.

The Attorney General will be joined by U.S. Navy Rear Admiral John Totushek and National Capital Parks East Superintendent John Hale, as well as volunteers of the Earth Conservation Corps. The Corps, who will host Saturday's event, is a national model for service-learning initiatives focused on the environment.

2000 Half Street, S.W. at the Anacostia River

Washington, D.C.

DIRECTIONS: From downtown Washington, D.C.,

take 7th Street toward the Waterfront.

Turn left onto M Street.

Follow M Street to Half Street.

Turn right onto Half Street.

Follow to end where parking volunteers will direct you.
