Ambassadorial Roundtable Series

Ambassadorial Roundtable Series

DRL launched "The Ambassadorial Roundtable Series" to foster partnerships between newly-confirmed U.S. Ambassadors and human rights and democracy non-governmental organizations (NGO). The DRL-hosted roundtables are frank, open, and informal discussions on the human rights, democratic governance, and civil society opportunities and challenges in the country of the Ambassador's assignment. They are a forum for the NGO community to get acquainted with the Ambassador, to brief him/her on current issues and concerns, and to share their significant in-country experience, insights, and recommendations. They also afford the Ambassador the opportunity to share with the NGOs his/her goals and objectives and to discuss how our human rights and democracy promotion efforts support the overall bilateral relationship with the country of assignment. DRL hopes that these roundtables will serve as a launching point for a sustained and robust dialogue between Ambassadors and NGO partners.
