About the Office: The United States Attorney’s Office (USAO) for the Western District of Louisiana consists of 42 of the state’s 64 parishes. The main office is located in Shreveport, Louisiana with a branch office in Lafayette, Louisiana. There are also unmanned branch offices in Alexandria, Monroe, and Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Responsibilities and Opportunity Offered: This vacancy is for a full-time Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) for a period not-to-exceed 14 months. The applicant for this position will represent the interest of the United States as an Assistant United States Attorney and prosecute a wide variety of complex criminal cases.

NOTE: This position is for an initial appointment period not-to-exceed 14 months. However, this appointment may be extended beyond the initial 14 months without further announcement.

Required Qualifications: Applicants must posses a J.D. degree from an accredited law school, be an active member in good standing of the bar (any jurisdiction), and should have at least one year of post-J.D. experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Applicants must demonstrate superior communication and courtroom skills, exhibit exceptional research and writing ability, perform thorough legal and factual analysis, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, exercise good judgement, and function with minimal guidance in a highly demanding environment.

Travel: Occasional travel within and outside the District may be required.

Salary Information: Assistant United States Attorney’s pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience.

Location: Shreveport, Louisiana

Relocation Expenses: Relocation expenses will not be authorized.
