Signing Ceremony June 19 in Tucker ATLANTA -- The U.S. Labor Department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Georgia Department of Education are joining forces to reduce injuries and illnesses among Georgia’s youth workers. An alliance signing ceremony will be held Monday, June 19, at OSHA’s Tucker area office. Participating organizations include: the Georgia Tech Consultation Program, Georgia Tech OSHA Training Institute Education Center, Construction Education Foundation of Georgia, American Industrial Hygiene Association-Georgia section, and the Georgia Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers. "The mission of this alliance will be to provide career technology educators throughout the state with resources necessary to offer effective safety and health training to their students," said G.T Breezley, OSHA's Atlanta-East area director.
OSHA has created more than 350 alliances with organizations committed to fostering safety and health in the workplace. In Alabama, the agency has offices in Mobile and Birmingham. Employers are responsible for providing a safe and healthful workplace for their employees. OSHA's role is to ensure the safety and health of America's workers by setting and enforcing standards; providing training, outreach and education; establishing partnerships; and encouraging continual improvement in workplace safety and health.
