ODESSA, Texas -- The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has today formed an alliance today with Allegiance HR Solutions Group, an organization comprised of predominantly Hispanic construction workers, and its subsidiaries. OSHA health and safety alliances are part of Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao's ongoing efforts to improve the health and safety of workers through cooperative partnerships with trade associations, labor organizations and employers. "This alliance will provide opportunities to build trust, provide information about best practices and leverage resources to maximize worker safety," said John Miles, OSHA's regional administrator in Dallas and head of the agency's task force to foster job safety and health among Hispanic workers. Richard Tapio, OSHA area director in Lubbock, said OSHA and Allegiance HR Solutions Group will address safety issues such as preventing falls and electrocutions, and they will build closer relationships with OSHA's regional and area offices. In addition, Allegiance HR Solutions Group will act as mentors to client work sites that aspire to excellence in safety and health.
