MOBILE, Ala. -- The U.S. Labor Department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is forging an alliance with the Gulf Coast Maritime Safety Association and the Physical Therapy Association, Alabama Chapter, to reduce safety hazards in the maritime industry. OSHA alliances are part of Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao's ongoing efforts to improve the health and safety of workers through cooperative partnerships. Through this cooperative agreement the parties will share information, guidance, and training resources to eliminate slip, trip and fall hazards in the maritime industry.
This cooperative approach sets safety and health as a high priority," said Ken Atha, director of OSHA's Mobile area office. "It represents a commitment by all the parties to provide workers with a safe and healthy work environment by recognizing and reducing occupational hazards."
