Telephone Conference of the U.S. National Commission For UNESCO Advisory Committee

The U.S. National Commission for UNESCO will meet by conference call on Wednesday, April 23, at 11a.m. The meeting of this advisory committee will last until approximately 12:00 p.m., and the call is open to the public.

The U.S. National Commission for UNESCO is chartered under the Federal Advisory Committee Act and provides advice to the Department of State on matters involving the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The purpose of the teleconference meeting is for the Commission to make recommendations related to the UNESCO University Twinning and Networking Program (UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Program).

The U.S. National Commission for UNESCO was asked to provide recommendations on a proposal received to establish a UNESCO Chair. For more information about the Program see http://www.state.gov/p/io/unesco/c14222.htm.  The call will also be an opportunity to provide an update on recent and upcoming UNESCO and U.S. National Commission for UNESCO activities. A Federal Register posting notice of the meeting (Public Notice 6175) may give less than 15 calendar days notice due to an external UNESCO deadline for member states submissions. For more information on this conference call, or to participate in it, please contact the Executive Secretariat of the National Commission at 202-663-0026.
