U.S. Ambassador Meets with Cochran Fellows

Kabul, Afghanistan --  U.S. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad and Deputy Secretary of Agriculture James Moseley met Monday, April 19, with four of the twelve Afghan women who will travel to the United States for two weeks of training in agricultural development as part of the 2004 Cochran Fellowship program. The Cochran Fellowship provides two weeks of training at US institutions in Washington, DC; Missouri; and South Dakota. The program focuses on American agribusiness practices and marketing principles for agricultural products in the fellows’ home countries. Fellows will observe techniques for encouraging rural development and will interact with farm families and professionals in the communities they visit.  State Department Photo
