Under Secretary Burns: Travel to France, India and Japan

Under Secretary Burns and Indian Foreign Minister Saran address press, New Delhi, India, Oct. 21, 2005. State Dept. photo.Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs R. Nicholas Burns traveled to France, India and Japan from October 19 to 25, 2005. In Paris, Under Secretary Burns met with European and French partners to discuss issues of mutual interest. Under Secretary Burns then traveled to India where he sought to advance the new U.S. strategic partnership with India, which sprung from Prime Minister Singh’s historic July 18 Summit in Washington. In Japan, he participated in Trilateral Strategic Dialogue talks on key regional and global issues with his Japanese and Australian counterparts, as well as meet with Japanese political leaders.
