This website, sponsored by the American Family Immigration History Center (AFIHC),
provides basic factual knowledge regarding the history of Immigration to the
United States. Individuals with enough knowledge of their ancestry are able to
search for relatives by clicking the link “Passenger Search.” This feature
essentially allows one to search the “ship manifests”, or detailed passenger
lists, which ship companies used to track their passengers.
The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA)

The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) is the national association
of over 8,000 attorneys and law professors who practice and teach immigration
law. AILA member attorneys represent tens of thousands of U.S. families who have
applied for permanent residence for their spouses, children, and other close
relatives to lawfully enter and reside in the United States.

Created as a separate bureau by the Homeland Security Act of 2002, the Bureau of
Citizenship and Immigration Services (BCIS) allows the Department of Homeland

nation, states, and counties in the United States. These estimates are based in
part on data collected in censuses and surveys. Projections of the U.S.
