The website of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) provides links to releases concerning SEC rulemaking activity, including final rules, proposed rules, and both concept and interpretive releases on its Regulatory Actions page. Below are a few highlights of some of the rulemaking documents available:

  • Proposed Rules: Includes proposed rules from 1994 to the present, arranged in reverse chronological order by year and quarter. A release number and brief description appear next to each entry.
  • Final Rules: Includes final rules from 1962 to the present, arranged in reverse chronological order by year and quarter. A release number and brief description appear next to each entry.
  • Interpretive Releases: Includes views and interpretations of federal securities laws and SEC regulations. Brief descriptions of and links to releases from 1989 to current are provided. The archives do not cover all years.

  • Exemptive Orders: Includes exemptive orders from 1999 to the present, arranged in reverse chronological order by year. A release number and brief description appear next to each entry.

Also of interest is the Litigation page, which provides links to information on enforcement actions, SEC opinions, briefs, trading suspensions, and notices concerning the creation of investors’ claims funds in specific cases.
