GAO Comptroller General Decisions

The Comptroller General of the United States, the head of the General Accounting Office (GAO), issues decisions in the areas of Federal law such as Appropriations, Bid Protests and Federal Agency Major Rules Reports. The Federal Agency Major Rules Reports are under a GAO identification system. The decisions have a numbering system that is used for identification purposes beginning with a B-(number). The decisions for each of the areas listed above cover approximately three years to the present day. They are available as html or pdf files and the more recent decisions are listed at the top of the page. You can also sign up to receive e-mails of Comptroller General Decisions. By subscribing to GAO's electronic alerts online, you will receive a copy of the decisions on the day they are released.

GPO Access also contains GAO Comptroller General Decisions. The database is updated within two business days after decisions have been released. This is a searchable database containing decisions from October 1995 to present.

To obtain Comptroller General Decisions through Westlaw (http://www.westlaw.com), use the CG database. Coverage begins with 1921 and Westlaw recently added KeyCite coverage for Comptroller General Decisions. While KeyCite coverage is currently limited to direct history and negative indirect history, Westlaw will include citing references in the near future.
