Executive Orders

If you are looking for a place to find an electronic copy (1993 to the present) of Executive Orders or to see the status of Executive Orders, try the Executive Orders Disposition Tables from the Office of the Federal Register (OFR).

These tables contain information about Executive Orders beginning with those signed by President Truman. They are arranged according to Presidential administration and year of signature. These tables include:

  • Executive order number
  • Date of signing by the President
  • Federal Register volume, page number, and issue date
  • Title
  • Amendments (if any)
  • Current status (where applicable)

All entries in these tables are subject to change, as new Executive Orders, Presidential proclamations, other Presidential documents, rules and regulations, notices, and public laws often amend or otherwise affect them.

You can also access Executive Orders covering 1945-1989 through the Codification of Presidential Proclamations and Executive Orders. Within the Codification section, you can find Executive Orders information via an Alphabetical Index, a Chapter Index (subject areas similar to the title designations of the CFR and the USC) and a Numeric Index. There is also a keyword search feature in the grey box on the right under "Search the Codification" on the main Codification page.
