Under Secretary Karen P. Hughes to Visit Peru

Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Karen P. Hughes is traveling to Peru August 7-9, 2007. The visit underscores the important relationship between Peru and the United States and furthers the continuing engagement between the peoples of Latin America and the United States.

During her visit to Peru, Under Secretary Hughes will travel to Trujillo to witness the humanitarian mission of the U.S. Navy hospital ship Comfort. In Lima she will meet with Peruvian students, young leaders and alumni of U.S. exchange programs, and will also participate in an event to extend a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding that protects Peru’s cultural patrimony.
