Under Secretary Sheeran: Travel to Moscow for G-8 Sous-Sherpa Meetings

Under Secretary of State for Economic, Business and Agricultural Affairs Josette Sheeran visited Moscow, Russia, May 4-5, for preparatory discussions with her G-8 counterparts in advance of the G-8 Summit in St. Petersburg, Russia, July 15-17.

Russia holds the rotating chairmanship of the G-8 this year, and has chosen to focus on energy security, education and infectious diseases as major themes.

"The issues that Russia has chosen for the G-8 Summit – energy security, infectious diseases and education – are all critically important," said Under Secretary Sheeran. "With this meeting we hope to create an agenda that will move these issues forward in a way that will benefit America and the world."
