Office of the Solicitor General

Student Opportunities

The Office has a limited number of volunteer student positions and, if funding is available, hires part-time law students. Generally, these positions are for 2nd and 3rd year law students. The work involves assisting with cite checking and production of briefs on short time schedules, and requires accuracy, attention to detail, working well with others under pressure, and the willingness to work unpredictable hours. The Office tries to provide students with varying opportunities, such as attending moot courts for, and Supreme Court arguments by, Office attorneys.

Interested students should e-mail a cover letter (indicating if they are seeking a paid or volunteer position, to include dates and the number of hours per week available), resume, writing sample, and if possible, an electronic copy of their transcript to kaletus.l.mccain@usdoj.gov.
