About the Office: This position is located in the Buffalo Office of the United States Attorney’s Office, Western District of New York. This position is a prosecutor in a 40 attorney office.

Number of Vacancies: One TERM Appointment Not to Exceed 24 months . Position may be extended. Based on staffing needs of this office additional TERM selections may be made from this announcement.

Responsibilities and Opportunity Offered: Investigation and prosecution of federal crimes, emphasis on narcotics, firearms and violent crime.

Qualifications: Required qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the bar (any jurisdiction), and have at least 1 year post-J.D. experience. Trial experience required. Strong writing skills.

Preferred qualifications: One to five years experience as a litigator. New York State Bar membership.

Travel: Travel to Rochester, New York (District Branch Office); New York, New York (appeals) and Columbia, South Carolina (training).

Salary Information: Assistant United States Attorneys' pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number years of professional attorney experience. Salary for this position is limited by budget funds available. Salary for this position will range from a base of $41,643 to $72,274 plus a locality pay of 14.15% of the base authorized. Total salary will range from $47,535 to $82,501. This type of appointment provides standard federal benefits: health insurance, life insurance, sick and annual leave, pension and thrift saving plan participation.

Location: Buffalo, New York.

Relocation Expenses: Relocation expenses will not be authorized.
