COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Reducing injuries and other worksite hazards, developing stronger training programs, and enhancing safety and health for temporary employees throughout Ohio are the goals of a new alliance among the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation, OSHA Onsite Consultation, CBS Personnel Holdings Inc. and the Ohio Staffing and Search Association. "We look forward to working in close cooperation and sharing best practices with our alliance partners to develop and implement safety and health training to temporary employees,” said Deborah Zubaty, OSHA’s area director in Columbus. “If we can provide these employees with the knowledge and ability to anticipate, identify and eliminate work-related hazards, we will be that much closer to eliminating job related injuries." CBS Personnel Holding Inc. is one of the fastest growing and largest staffing companies in the nation. With more than 145 offices located in 18 states, it places more than 25,000 temporary employees each week. Ohio Staffing and Search Association is a trade association that serves as the voice of the Ohio temporary staffing industry with association members, legislative leaders, regulators and the public. OSHA health and safety alliances are part of U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao's ongoing efforts to improve the health and safety of employees through cooperative partnerships. OSHA currently has more than 450 alliances throughout the nation with organizations committed to fostering safety and health in the workplace. Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers are responsible for providing safe and healthful workplaces for their employees. OSHA’s role is to assure the safety and health of America’s working men and women by setting and enforcing standards; providing training, outreach and education; establishing partnerships; and encouraging continual process improvement in workplace safety and health.
