OSHA Training Will Help Employers Identify Accident Trends In The Workplace
OSHA Recordkeeping Seminar at Elgin Community College on Sept. 19

AURORA, Ill. -- To help employers identify and analyze accident trends in the workplace, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the state of Illinois will present a seminar on the new OSHA 300 log of work-related injuries and illnesses on September 19 at Elgin Community College.

The program is sponsored by a partnership between OSHA; the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs, On-Site Safety and Health Consultation Program; Northern Illinois University, National Safety Education Center; and the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) School of Public Health, Illinois Occupational and Environmental Education and Research Center.

"OSHA is committed to helping employers reduce occupational injuries and illnesses. This seminar will provide employers with a valuable management tool to improve safety in the workplace," said OSHA Regional Administrator Michael G. Connors in Chicago.

OSHA compliance experts will teach employers how to calculate incidence and days away, restricted, and transferred (DART) rates using the OSHA 300 log. In the hands-on practice session, attendees will learn how to improve their accident investigation process and analyze trends.

The seminar will be held from 8:00 a.m. to noon at Elgin Community College, Business Conference Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin, Ill. From noon to 1 p.m., attendees are invited to visit The Consultant's Corner to have an OSHA compliance expert review their OSHA 300 logs and answer questions free of charge.

The fee for the seminar, handout materials, and refreshments is $35. Advance registration is required. Attendees will earn 0.4 continuing education units. To register, contact the UIC School of Public Health at (312) 996-6904.
