Drew S. Days, III, is the Alfred M. Rankin Professor at Yale Law School. At
Yale, his teaching and writing have been in the fields of civil procedure,
federal jurisdiction, Supreme Court practice, antidiscrimination law, comparative
constitutional law (Canada and the United States) and international human
rights. A graduate of Hamilton College and Yale Law School, Professor Days
served on the staff of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund from 1969 to 1977. From
1977-1980, he was the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights in the Carter
Administration. Professor Days has been a member of the Yale Law Faculty since
1981, with the exception of a three-year stint (1993-1996) as the Solicitor
General of the United States in the first Clinton Administration. Since 1997,
he has been of counsel to Morrison & Foerster, heading the Supreme Court
and appellate group in its Washington, D.C. office.
